Inter Moves on Motta and Pursues Dortmund's Reggiani

Inter have quietly moved one full-back out of the door while trying to prise one of Europe’s most coveted teenage defenders away from Borussia Dortmund.

The Nerazzurri have completed the permanent sale of Matteo Motta to Serie C side Pescara, closing the chapter on the 21-year-old’s time at the club. A product of Inter’s youth academy, Motta never made a competitive appearance for the senior team and spent last season on loan at Lumezzane.

Inter have protected themselves in case his career takes off. The deal includes a clause guaranteeing the Milan club 50 per cent of any future transfer fee Pescara receive for the left-back.

Interest in Reggiani

As one youth product leaves, another potential cornerstone is firmly in Inter’s sights.

German outlet Bild report that Inter have again approached Borussia Dortmund to test the waters for Luca Reggiani, the highly rated 18-year-old central defender. The Italian, who came through the Sassuolo academy, joined Dortmund in February 2024 and has accelerated through their ranks at remarkable speed.

His rise has already taken him to the national team. Reggiani earned his first senior Italy cap in June 2026, underlining just how quickly his reputation has grown in Germany.

Inter’s interest is persistent, but the response from Dortmund remains cold. The Bundesliga club are described as determined to keep hold of the defender and have recently extended his contract, strengthening their hand and making any potential deal even more complicated.

For now, Motta departs with a safety net built into the deal, while Reggiani stays in Dortmund – the kind of talent Inter want, but one they may have to wait a long time to touch.
