Juan Bezerra Leaves Zamalek for Shabab Al-Ahli

Juan Alvina Bezerra’s time at Zamalek is over almost as quickly as it began. One season, one league title, and now one final goodbye.

Zamalek’s board, led by Hussein Labib, announced on Saturday that the club has reached a final agreement to sell the Brazilian to Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai in the UAE, confirming the end of a short but eventful spell in the White shirt.

The split has been coming.

Bezerra skipped Zamalek’s pre-season preparations and stayed away from early matches, making it clear he wanted out during the current summer window. That decision put him on a collision course with the club just as the new campaign was starting, and his situation quickly grew tense.

Cairo saw him again last Saturday. He returned, but not to stay. The Brazilian reiterated his desire for a new challenge, and negotiations with Shabab Al-Ahli accelerated, edging steadily towards a deal over the past few days.

Zamalek had already opened the door. The club granted Bezerra permission to travel to the UAE for his medical, a clear sign that the transfer was only a matter of time. The final confirmation arrived today, with the White Castle officially drawing a line under his chapter.

In their statement, Zamalek said: “The board of Zamalek, chaired by Hussein Labib, announces that an agreement has been reached regarding the transfer of Brazilian Juan Bezerra to Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai of the UAE, after the requirements set by Zamalek at the start of the negotiations in the summer transfer window this year were met.”

On the pitch, his impact in that lone season was anything but marginal. Bezerra played 44 matches across all competitions, scoring 8 goals and supplying 12 assists. He produced standout performances in key moments, his contributions pushing Zamalek through several competitions before his journey ended abruptly at his own request.

He leaves with silverware. The Brazilian helped Zamalek clinch the Egyptian Premier League title last season, his first and only trophy with the club.

Shabab Al-Ahli, meanwhile, chose a teasing flourish for their announcement. On their official account, they posted: “They searched for the date of the announcement.. Dubai is the destination.”

For Bezerra, that destination is now set. One season in Cairo, a rapid rise, a sudden break, and a fresh start in Dubai—his story with Zamalek closes quickly, but the next chapter in the Gulf begins immediately.
