Transfer Updates: Kalvin Phillips Set for Sheffield United Loan, PSG Close on Monaco's Akliouche

Kalvin Phillips, the 30-year-old midfielder at Manchester City, appears ready to join Sheffield United on loan for the second time. Since his move from Leeds United in summer 2022, Phillips has struggled for game time, managing just 32 appearances.

His involvement at City has been limited this season with only one appearance since the end of 2023-24. He spent time out on loan at West Ham United, Ipswich Town, and Sheffield United. Although a knee injury restricted him to three games for Sheffield United in the latter half of last season, reports indicate he will return to the Championship club.

The Manchester Evening News suggests an official announcement about Phillips' return to the Blades is expected shortly. Despite having two years left on his contract at City, he has been excluded from their pre-season tour squad to facilitate his move away from the Etihad Stadium.

PSG Near Signing of Monaco Attacker Maghnes Akliouche

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Paris Saint-Germain are close to securing the transfer of 24-year-old forward Maghnes Akliouche from Monaco. Though Liverpool had shown interest, PSG have advanced in talks and seem set to finalize the deal.

Akliouche has impressive stats with 23 goals and 28 assists in 139 matches for Monaco across all competitions. Last season alone, he notched seven goals and 11 assists in 43 games. The French international, capped ten times, also brings Champions League experience with three goals and five assists in 20 appearances. He mainly plays on the right but is versatile across the attacking positions.

Middlesbrough Initiate Discussions for Everton Goalkeeper Mark Travers

Middlesbrough have opened negotiations with Everton to bring goalkeeper Mark Travers back on loan for the 2026-27 season. Travers, a Republic of Ireland international, was on loan at Boro in 2024-25, making 17 appearances.

After transferring to Everton from Bournemouth last summer, Travers played just twice as Jordan Pickford remains the first-choice keeper. Reports from Football Insider indicate Travers wants more regular playtime and is eager to leave Everton this summer. Besides Middlesbrough, Wrexham is also reportedly interested in signing him. Before joining Everton, Travers had made 82 appearances for Bournemouth.
