Kompany Supports Boey Amid Bayern Competition

Vincent Kompany has closed the door on Sacha Boey’s turbulent summer and pulled him back into the Bayern Munich fold, insisting the French full-back now has the full backing of the club.

Bayern spent the window trying to move Boey on, but no acceptable offer arrived before the deadline. The result: a player who knew he was on the market is now back in a dressing room stacked with competition.

Kompany didn’t dodge that reality.

“Now the transfer window is closed, and Sacha is part of our team and has our support,” the Bayern coach said at his press conference. “My role now is that he performs. But the reality is we have Josip Stanišić and Konrad Laimer in the position, and competition is already fierce.”

That is the challenge laid out. Two players ahead of him, minutes to fight for, trust to rebuild.

So what does Boey need? Kompany kept it simple.

“You need patience and hard work. But anything can happen in football if you have the right attitude,” he stressed.

The message is clear: the slate isn’t wiped completely clean, but the door is open. Boey has to push through it.

Kompany also underlined that Bayern’s handling of such situations, even when brutal, comes with a certain honesty. He pointed to his work with sporting directors Max Eberl and Christoph Freund as an example of how the club operates when a player is no longer in the plans.

“What I've seen working with Max Eberl and Christoph Freund is that the club is clear and straightforward; also in dealings with players,” he said. “It's not always pleasant for the player, but you also gain a lot of respect from the players when you speak to them clearly and honestly.”

For now, Boey stays. He trains, and, according to Kompany, he trains well.

“We're simply treating him with respect. He's training very well at the moment, and everything else will fall into place,” the coach added.

The transfer window has shut. The rumours have stopped. What happens next for Sacha Boey will be decided on the training pitch and, if he forces his way in, under the Allianz Arena lights.
