Kylian Mbappé Joins Swiss Sportswear Brand On

Kylian Mbappé has walked away from Nike and into a new era with Swiss sportswear brand On, ending a partnership that has followed him from teenage prodigy to France captain.

The move, announced on Friday, signals On’s bold arrival into elite football.

“Today, Swiss sportswear brand On announces its entry into football alongside football champion Kylian Mbappe, marking the beginning of the brand’s journey into the world’s biggest sport,” the company said in a statement, underlining the scale of its ambition.

For Mbappé, this is more than a logo switch. It is a chance to help shape a project from the ground up.

“From the beginning, what drew me to On was the opportunity to build something entirely new together that will help shape tomorrow’s game,” he said. “I want to bring my experience and perspective into what we create, push what’s possible through innovation, and always stay true to the joy of football. We have a shared dream, and this is only the beginning.”

On has not disclosed the value or length of Mbappé’s contract, but the intent is obvious: this is the centrepiece of a major push into football.

The company has moved quickly to build credibility around the project. Alongside Mbappé’s signing, On confirmed that 1998 World Cup winner Thierry Henry has been appointed its football director, adding a second French icon to the operation and a sharp football brain to guide its strategy on the pitch.

Founded in 2010, On built its reputation in running and later in tennis, where it already enjoys a high-profile link with Roger Federer, who is among the brand’s shareholders. The Swiss great also broke from Nike late in his career before aligning with the Zurich-based company, a path Mbappé now echoes in a different sport.

From Federer’s baseline to Mbappé’s touchline, On has turned to generational talents to front its rise. Now the question is how quickly it can turn that star power into real influence in football’s fiercely contested boot market.
