Lazio Considers Icardi and Bissouma as Gattuso Prioritizes Mobility

Lazio’s transfer window did not end with deadline day. With the Serie A list still carrying two vacant slots, the club are scouring the free-agent market, and two big names sit on the table: Mauro Icardi and Yves Bissouma.

The Biancocelesti have already moved once, snapping up Portuguese defender Diogo Leite on a free. That deal came after Patric and Luca Pellegrini were left out of the official league squad, creating room for opportunistic late business.

The former Inter striker is still without a club after his departure from Galatasaray, and his goalscoring pedigree naturally appeals to the president’s ambitions and eye for a headline signing.

Gattuso cool on Icardi idea

Gennaro Gattuso has been clear about what he wants through the middle: movement, pressing, and a striker who can stretch defences rather than simply finish moves in the box. That demand already shaped Lazio’s summer, leading to the late arrival of Andrea Pinamonti as the profile to build around.

For Gattuso, the priority now is to get Pinamonti fully match-fit and integrated, not to rip up the attacking hierarchy for a free-agent gamble. Icardi, in his eyes, is an option, but one that sits firmly down the list rather than at the top of it.

The tension is not explosive, but it is real: a president intrigued by a big-name opportunity, and a coach intent on protecting the tactical identity he is trying to impose.

Bissouma emerges as midfield solution
