Liverpool's £50m Bid for Sarr After Minteh Pursuit Fails

Liverpool have turned hard towards Crystal Palace winger Sarr, lodging a £50 million offer as the clock ticks down on the transfer window, according to the Mirror.

Two bids for Minteh were already knocked back, both falling well short of Brighton’s firm £70m valuation. With only five days left before Monday’s deadline, Liverpool have abandoned that chase and moved quickly for an alternative wide forward.

Sarr, who joined Palace two years ago, is understood to be very keen on a switch to Anfield and a step into the sharp end of the Premier League title race. Liverpool’s need in those positions is stark. The club has been rocked by the tragic death of Diogo Jota and then stripped further by the departures of Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah, leaving the flanks badly exposed.

The scramble for Sarr, though, is already crowded.

Foot Mercato reports that Al-Hilal and Galatasaray are both pushing hard for the 28-year-old. Galatasaray are said to be in advanced discussions, while Al-Hilal are watching developments closely and could yet move. Liverpool, then, are not just racing the deadline – they are racing rival offers and different projects.

Sarr’s Performance

Sarr’s numbers explain the interest. Over the past season he made 45 appearances in all competitions, scoring 21 goals and adding two assists as Palace went all the way to lift the UEFA Europa Conference League. On top of that, he carried his form onto the biggest stage this summer, scoring four times at the World Cup before Senegal went out to Belgium in the round of 32.

Managerial Insights

At Anfield, the urgency is being driven from the dugout as much as the boardroom. Manager Iraola has been open about the gaps in his squad, particularly with Tottenham and Manchester City circling Cody Gakpo and threatening to thin his attacking options even further.

“Some deals you have to wait until the end. But the end is the important picture, the one we will have on September 1, because it is true that we are still quite thin,” he told Sky Sports.

The Spaniard admitted he had wanted every position doubled up with top-level players before the campaign started, but accepts he now has to adapt to a far more chaotic market.
