Liverpool’s pursuit of Bradley Barcola has hit a hard stop – for now.

Talks with Paris Saint-Germain over the 23-year-old forward have been put on ice, with negotiations at a standstill and the French champions refusing to budge on a huge asking price in the region of £145m, according to L’Équipe. Liverpool see the France international as a priority signing to sharpen their attack, but they are refusing to go anywhere near that valuation.

PSG’s stance is clear. Liverpool’s is just as firm.

Barcola, formerly of Lyon, is not inclined to extend his contract at the Parc des Princes and is open to a move to Anfield. That gives Liverpool a sliver of leverage, but not enough yet to crack PSG’s resolve.

While the talks cool, the French club are busy reshaping their own frontline. Les Parisiens are closing in on deals for Ferran Torres, 25, and Mika Godts, 21, as they prepare the next phase of their attack. Once those arrivals are secured, the dynamics around Barcola could shift.
