Liverpool's Pursuit of Bradley Barcola: Late Drama Ahead
Liverpool’s pursuit of Bradley Barcola is heading for late drama.
The Premier League club are pushing hard to land the Paris Saint-Germain forward before the transfer window closes, with The Athletic reporting that the 23-year-old French international has emerged as Liverpool’s priority to strengthen their wide attacking options this summer.
Liverpool and PSG miles apart on fee
The interest is serious. The numbers are even more serious.
PSG have set a huge price on the former Lyon winger, demanding around €170m for any deal to be done. That figure currently sits well above Liverpool’s valuation and has left negotiations locked in a stand-off.
Liverpool have already tested PSG’s resolve with an offer of €115m, which the Ligue 1 champions rejected. The gap is clear, and it is sizeable.
Barcola pushing for Anfield move
The fee is the problem. The player is not.
Despite the stalemate between the clubs, Barcola is understood to be confident that he will get his move to Anfield before the window shuts, according to L’Équipe. The Frenchman is keen on the switch to the North West of England and is waiting for the two clubs to find common ground.
Liverpool, for their part, are expected to return with an improved bid, one that edges closer to PSG’s demands as the deadline looms.
The clock is ticking. The price is eye-watering. Now the question is simple: how far are Liverpool prepared to go for Bradley Barcola?
