According to ESPN, Liverpool officially reignited talks with PSG concerning the high-profile transfer of Barcola. The Premier League side aims to wrap up the signing before the deadline. Earlier this month, an opening offer around £90 million ($122.3 million) was rejected by PSG, who are now demanding a hefty £135 million ($184.2 million) to let go of their prized winger.

Cody Gakpo's Potential Departure Could Finance the Deal

The move might hinge on the exit of Dutch forward Cody Gakpo, who has been linked with Tottenham and Manchester City. His departure would provide Liverpool with the financial resources required to pursue Barcola aggressively.

PSG’s sporting director Luis Campos commented recently that the transfer window is still very active, indicating that changes could happen right up until the deadline.

Personal Terms Agreed, But No Pressure from Barcola

Barcola has been Liverpool’s primary summer target, and personal terms were agreed on some time ago. Despite the ongoing negotiations, the French winger isn’t pushing for a move away from PSG. With two years left on his contract, he is willing to stay if the clubs cannot find common ground on the transfer fee.

His current absence from PSG’s first three matches this season has sparked speculation, although he played in all eight of France’s World Cup games, where they finished fourth.
