Liverpool Eyes Double Signing from PSG: Barcola and Mbaye

Liverpool’s window is finally threatening to catch fire.

With only a couple of weeks left to do business, the club are preparing a fresh push in the market, and their gaze is locked firmly on Paris. Jeremy Jacquet, Victor Munoz and Ronald Araujo are already through the door, but the feeling around Anfield is clear: this squad is still short, especially in attack.

Barcola remains the big prize

Bradley Barcola is still the headline target. Liverpool have kept talks alive with PSG over the forward, with any agreement expected to smash through the £100m mark. He is the statement signing, the one that would reshape Andoni Iraola’s front line.

Yet as negotiations drag on and the clock ticks down, Liverpool are widening their options inside the same dressing room.

Mbaye move gathers pace

According to L’Equipe, Liverpool are now preparing a concrete offer for Ibrahim Mbaye and intend to send it to PSG by the end of next week. The initial suggestion of a €40m fee looks optimistic; the French champions are expected to demand more.

Even so, Mbaye would come in significantly cheaper than Barcola and gives Liverpool a different kind of play. A serious, attainable target rather than just a marquee dream.

For Iraola, the need is obvious. There is still a Mohamed Salah‑shaped void on the right side of Liverpool’s attack, a gap that has not been convincingly filled since the Egyptian’s departure. Mbaye is seen as a player who could step into that space and give the new manager a focal point out wide.

Pressure on Anfield hierarchy

The urgency has only intensified with Cody Gakpo increasingly likely to join Tottenham Hotspur. Losing another forward while still scrambling for a replacement would leave Liverpool exposed at the sharp end of the pitch.

The Anfield hierarchy can see the problem staring back at them from the team sheet. Goals, width, depth – all under threat unless reinforcements arrive quickly.

And so the idea gathers momentum: not just one raid on the European champions, but two. Barcola as the blockbuster, Mbaye as the shrewd addition. If Liverpool pull it off, it would be more than just a late-window flourish.

It would be a declaration about where they intend to sit in the European pecking order this season.
