Liverpool Intensify Talks for PSG Winger Bradley Barcola

Liverpool are pushing hard to land Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, with Fabrizio Romano insisting the “deal is alive” as talks between the clubs continue.

The Premier League side are scrambling to reshape their forward line after Mohamed Salah’s departure to Trabzonspor at the end of last season. The plan is clear: at least two wingers before the window closes.

One is already through the door. Victor Munoz has arrived from Osasuna. One has slipped away, with Liverpool abandoning a move for Yan Diomande once it became clear the winger preferred another destination.

Now the spotlight has swung firmly onto Barcola.

Barcola talks intensify

Romano says Liverpool and PSG are locked in direct negotiations, cutting out the usual public choreography of bids and counter-bids.

“On Bradley Barcola, guys, I told you since the beginning, it is not going to be €170m,” Romano said on his YouTube channel, dismissing the eye-watering figure that has been circulating. He stressed that people within the industry never believed such a price was realistic, even if the final fee will still be substantial.

That hasn’t slowed Liverpool down.

Romano described “a direct exchange day by day” between the clubs, with talks driven at the highest level between directors and owners rather than through intermediaries. No formal “€X bid rejected/accepted” drip-feed. Just two clubs trying to hammer out a deal in the shadows of deadline day.

“The deal is alive,” he underlined. “Barcola is absolutely, absolutely a deal that Liverpool want to complete in the next few days, and my expectation is absolutely for Liverpool to go very strong for Barcola.”

The message is blunt: Liverpool are all-in on the PSG winger.

Minteh chase and Gakpo question

Work on the opposite flank hasn’t stopped. Liverpool have already made two bids for Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh as they look for a right-sided option to help plug the Salah gap. There is a decision looming there, with Liverpool weighing up whether to keep pushing after learning what it would take to strike a “done deal”.

At the same time, the future of Cody Gakpo hangs over the rest of their window. Romano made it clear that Liverpool’s plan is to sign Barcola and then move for another winger if Gakpo leaves.

“And then they want one more if Gakpo goes to Tottenham or Man City,” he said.

Both Tottenham and Manchester City are circling. Spurs are actively pushing to sign the Dutchman, while City, as of Monday night, had yet to make a direct approach to Liverpool despite their interest.

PSG braced for Barcola exit

Inside PSG, there is a growing acceptance that Barcola could be on his way to Anfield before the window slams shut.

Journalist Ben Jacobs reported that club insiders “expect” the winger to leave before the deadline, with talks with Liverpool ongoing. He also confirmed Tottenham’s pursuit of Gakpo and City’s interest, even if Pep Guardiola’s side have not yet tested Liverpool’s resolve.

So Liverpool find themselves in a delicate balance: negotiating a major deal with PSG for Barcola, pushing Brighton for Minteh, and fending off heavyweight interest in Gakpo.

If all three threads pull tight in the coming days, Anfield’s forward line could look radically different by the time the window closes.
