Loïc Mbe Soh Joins Sparta Prague in €3 Million Transfer

Loïc Mbe Soh is on the move again. The former Paris Saint-Germain and Nottingham Forest defender is leaving Sint-Truiden after just a few months to join Czech champions Sparta Prague in a deal worth around €3 million.

The 25-year-old only arrived at Sint-Truiden in January, brought in as a replacement for Rein Van Helden after his switch to Antwerp. He slotted in quickly. Mbe Soh played 14 games in the run-in as Sint-Truiden made history by qualifying for European football for the first time. This season he had already featured twice before Sparta stepped in.

For a player once tipped for the top at PSG, this transfer feels like another sharp turn in a career full of detours.

Mbe Soh came through the PSG academy and broke into the first team, making three senior appearances before leaving in 2020 in search of regular football. Nottingham Forest offered that pathway, but it never truly opened up. Across four seasons at the City Ground he played just 13 games, scoring once, and spent chunks of that spell out on loan with Guingamp in France and Almere City in the Netherlands.

In 2024, his Forest chapter quietly closed. He left on a free and signed for Beerschot in the Belgian Pro League, where he finally put together a sustained run of matches. Mbe Soh played 52 times for the club. The first full season ended in relegation from the top flight, but the following campaign brought a push for promotion and a reminder of his resilience.

That surge earned him a mid-season move to Sint-Truiden in the last January window, and his impact there has now translated into a step up to Sparta Prague, a club with regular European ambitions and a demanding stage.

From PSG’s academy to England, Belgium, France, the Netherlands and now the Czech Republic, Mbe Soh’s route has been anything but straight. Sparta are betting that the defender who helped drive Sint-Truiden into Europe is ready to anchor a back line chasing titles and continental nights of their own.
