Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reported that PSG reached a verbal agreement with Digne and informed Aston Villa of their intention to trigger the release clause in his contract, a fee of under €10 million. The payment will follow the conclusion of the player’s involvement in the 2026 World Cup.

For Digne, the deal comes with a clear role. Romano stated that the Frenchman has accepted that he will arrive as cover and competition for Portugal international Nuno Mendes at left-back. Not the marquee status of his Barcelona days, perhaps, but a significant job in a squad built to chase the Champions League.
