Man Utd Sets Sights on Midfield Reinforcement with Aurelien Tchouameni Leading Targets
Manchester United are still on the lookout for a third midfielder this summer, despite already signing Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos. The club is eager to add a defensive midfield specialist before the transfer window shuts.
Aurelien Tchouameni Tops the List
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Aurelien Tchouameni of Real Madrid ranks very high among United’s targets. Valued at around £68 million, the 26-year-old French international is described as "right near the top of the list." This shows just how much the Red Devils value his abilities.
"Tchouameni is one of Manchester United's highest priorities as they look to complete their midfield rebuild," Jacobs said.
That said, United face a tough task convincing him to leave Real Madrid, especially since he reportedly has committed his future there by signing a new contract. So while he is highly admired, actually bringing him to Old Trafford looks difficult.
Other Midfield Options in Focus
If Tchouameni isn’t an option, United have several other names in mind. Emmanuel Kone of AS Roma is considered a strong candidate; reports suggest that personal terms might already be in discussion, although clubs have yet to start official negotiations.
Alex Scott, the England U21 midfielder from AFC Bournemouth, remains a priority despite Bournemouth’s resistance to selling. Meanwhile, Carlos Baleba from Brighton is also being watched after another solid season.
Another potential signing is Tyler Adams, also at Bournemouth, who brings Premier League experience and fits the defensive profile United desire.
Tchouameni stands out because of his mix of defensive skill, athleticism, calmness on the ball, and experience at the highest level. If available, he'd naturally be the top target.
Since his signing seems unlikely, players like Kone and Scott may be more realistic additions before the window closes.
