Manchester City Signs Allan Elias from Palmeiras for £34.2m

Manchester City’s rebuild under Enzo Maresca shows no sign of slowing, and the latest piece has arrived from Brazil. Winger Allan Elias has signed from Palmeiras in a deal worth up to £34.2m, stepping straight into the space left by Savio’s departure.

City will pay an initial £32m with a further £2.2m in add-ons for the 22-year-old, who has agreed a five-year contract. He comes in as a like-for-like replacement for compatriot Savio, who completed a £75m switch to Tottenham Hotspur last week.

Allan is a right-sided winger, sharp and direct, who grew through the Palmeiras academy before breaking into the first team. He leaves the Brazilian champions having scored nine goals and supplied 12 assists in 96 appearances in all competitions.

“This is a surreal moment for me. Manchester City, with everything they have won over the past 15 years, are one of the most attractive clubs in the world for players,” Allan said.

“To be able to sit here today and say I have joined them is the proudest moment of my life.

“I love Palmeiras and always will – but the decision to come to City was an easy one. I want to be the best footballer I can be and the conversations I’ve had with the people at City so far has convinced me there isn’t a better place for me to fulfil my ambitions.”

A frantic summer at the Etihad

Allan’s arrival continues a frantic, high-spend summer at the Etihad. City have already pushed past the £230m mark in transfer fees, reshaping Maresca’s squad at pace.

The headline deal so far remains Elliot Anderson’s £116m move from Nottingham Forest, a statement of trust in the midfielder’s potential. Ayyoub Bouaddi has also come in from Lille for £85.6m, adding more energy and versatility to the middle of the pitch.

City are not done yet. Talks are ongoing with Liverpool over Dutch forward Cody Gakpo, while Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez is another key target as Maresca looks to refresh both his attack and his engine room.

Yet this is not a one-way spend. The champions have balanced their aggression in the market with major outgoings.

Player trading on a grand scale

Across the window, City have raised over £286m in player sales, underlining the scale of the overhaul.

The most striking departure is Rodri. The 2026 World Cup Golden Ball winner has joined Barcelona in a £65m deal, ending a dominant spell at the heart of City’s midfield and leaving a sizeable tactical and emotional gap.

Tijani Reijnders has also moved on, joining Al-Qadsiah for £52m as part of the wider reshaping of Maresca’s options.

So City find themselves in a familiar position: spending big, selling big, and betting on the next wave. Allan Elias now steps into that cycle, a 22-year-old winger from São Paulo handed a five-year stage in Manchester.
