Manchester United Target Liverpool's Isaac Konde in Youth Academy Shake-Up

Manchester United are set to prise highly rated teenager Isaac Konde away from Liverpool, with a deal for the 16-year-old midfielder understood to be in place after the final formalities were wrapped up in the last 24 hours.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reports that United have reached an agreement with Liverpool for the youngster, who has broken through at Under-18 level this season. Konde has made six appearances in the Under-18 Premier League, registering one assist and catching the eye with his development in the Reds’ academy system.

If completed as expected, it will be a headline move in a broader reshaping of United’s youth ranks.

United rebuild while prospects move on

The Konde agreement comes at a time of notable churn in United’s academy, with several promising names heading for permanent exits over the summer.

Premier League champions Arsenal swooped for defender Habeeb Ogunneye and forward James Scanlon, securing both on permanent deals in the recent transfer window. Those departures underlined how aggressively top-flight rivals are now shopping in each other’s youth systems.

United also saw 17-year-old striker Louie Bradbury depart for Stoke City. The Championship side handed him a two-year contract, with an option to extend into the 2028/29 campaign, as they bet on his long-term potential.

The club marked Bradbury’s exit with a detailed statement, reflecting the regard in which he was held at Carrington.

“Academy forward Louie Bradbury has agreed a move to Championship side Stoke City, subject to registration.

“The Shrewsbury-born striker signed for United at Under-14s level and earned his scholarship with the club in 2025.

“He made five appearances for the Under-18s during the 2024/25 season, debuting for Adam Lawrence’s side as a late substitute in the FA Youth Cup fourth-round.

“Last season he scored eight Under-18 Premier League goals and also registered at Premier League 2 level.

“Everyone at Manchester United wishes Louie all the best with his next stage of his career.”

One talent leaves, another arrives. That is the rhythm of any elite academy, and United are clearly determined that the conveyor belt keeps moving.

Missed out on Louis Page, land Konde instead

Not every pursuit has paid off. United pushed to bring in Leicester City youngster Louis Page before the deadline but were left frustrated when the two clubs failed to strike an agreement in time. The teenager stays with the League One side, at least for now.

Konde’s imminent switch from Liverpool, though, sends its own message. United are not just protecting what they have; they are raiding rival academies to restock.
