The agent of the former Liverpool forward has broken his recent silence with a pointed update on Salah’s future, hinting that the long wait for clarity is almost over after the Egyptian’s emotional exit from Anfield this summer.

Abbas returned again on June 12, doubling down on that stance.

“Mohamed is doing perfectly fine and neither he nor I prefer to discuss sensitive future plans with people not involved in them,” he said. “Both he and I are very private about these things. Yes, people may ask and they may get a standard polite response but that’s about it.”

Private. Selective. Unmoved by the daily drumbeat of rumours. That has been the tone from Salah’s side all summer.

Now, though, the language has shifted. “We may know very soon” is as close as Abbas has come to placing a time frame on the decision, a sign that negotiations are reaching their final act and that the next chapter of Salah’s career is almost ready to be revealed.
