Mohamed Salah’s move to Trabzonspor is already changing more than just a starting XI.

Erkut Çelebi, head of the Trabzon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, says the Egyptian star’s arrival has triggered a surge in tourism interest in the Black Sea city, stretching well beyond Egypt and across North Africa.

Speaking to local outlet 61saat, Çelebi outlined how the transfer has opened a new window for the region. Hotels in Trabzon typically operate at high occupancy for only three or four months each year before numbers drop sharply. Now, officials see Salah as the catalyst to turn a short, crowded season into a year-round attraction.

The pressure to act is clear. With demand rising from multiple North African countries on the back of the signing, tourism and city authorities are working on ways to keep visitors coming outside the traditional peak months, using Salah’s presence and the global attention around Trabzonspor as a hook.

Trabzonspor confirmed the signing of Mohamed Salah last Thursday on a free transfer, with a two-year deal following the expiry of his Liverpool contract at the end of last season.
