Mourinho Faces Tough Choices as Real Madrid's Attack Options Multiply
Three weeks into rigorous training, José Mourinho has begun to establish the tactical approach he wants at Real Madrid. The Portuguese coach favors a 4-2-3-1 setup, offering several attacking options but also creating tough selection dilemmas.
Attacking Third Packed with Talent
According to Mundo Deportivo, the key zone responsible for creating chances and delivering critical passes is crowded with quality players, giving Mourinho an unusual wealth of choices since his return to the Santiago Bernabéu after 13 years.
Jude Bellingham leads the candidates for the main playmaker role. His impressive performance in the last World Cup nearly guarantees him a spot in Mourinho’s starting eleven.
Still, Bellingham’s position isn’t completely secure. Bernardo Silva, one of the summer’s most notable signings and acquired at Mourinho’s request, is pushing hard to claim that role, giving the Portuguese star a special consideration.
Other Contenders Struggle for Consistent Roles
The competition from these two stars overshadows other options. Arda Güler from Turkey remains a peripheral figure and hasn’t yet been given a serious chance to prove himself. Similarly, Brahim Díaz from Morocco, returning after a loan at Milan, finds himself in a tough spot.
Díaz has logged over 30 appearances in recent seasons but never secured a regular starting position. With Bellingham and Silva battling for the same spot, his chances look limited.
Rotation Likely as Season Progresses
Mourinho will have plenty of opportunities to rotate players during the packed schedule ahead. Despite this, the high technical standards and intense competition for trophies mean he will face difficult decisions, especially in crucial matches.
