Omar Marmoush Set for Tottenham Medical After Major Signing

Tottenham are closing in on another major attacking signing, with Omar Marmoush set to undergo a medical after Spurs and Manchester City agreed a loan deal that includes an obligation to buy.

Standard Sport understands the obligation will see Spurs pay an initial £50million, with £5m in guaranteed add-ons and a further £5m in performance-related bonuses. The Egyptian forward is expected to sign a four-year contract, with an option for an extra 12 months.

This is not a small move. It is another statement of intent.

Big money, separate deal

The Marmoush agreement is understood to be entirely separate from the £85m signing of his former City team-mate Savio, who completed his move to Spurs on Tuesday. Savio is available to make his debut in the Carabao Cup second-round tie at home to Charlton tonight, underlining how quickly Tottenham’s new-look attack is taking shape.

Despite reports elsewhere, there is no sell-on clause due to Eintracht Frankfurt, the club Marmoush left to join City. The structure is simple: City cash in, Spurs commit, and Marmoush gets the platform he has been chasing.

A striker with a point to prove

Marmoush arrives in north London after a frustrating campaign at City. He joined them in January 2025, started brightly, then slipped down the pecking order and never truly recovered his place.

He made only eight Premier League starts last season, but still finished with eight goals in 36 appearances in all competitions. Those numbers hint at efficiency rather than volume — and at a player who believes he has been underused rather than exposed.

At Spurs, he is not coming to make up the numbers. Marmoush is said to be confident he can dislodge both Richarlison and Dominic Solanke to become Roberto De Zerbi’s first-choice centre-forward. That is an ambitious target in a squad already packed with attacking options, but it is exactly the kind of edge De Zerbi wants in his dressing room.

Spurs’ spending spree rolls on

This deal pushes Tottenham’s summer outlay beyond the £300m mark. Marmoush follows Savio, Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke through the door in a window that has rapidly reshaped De Zerbi’s squad.
