One Key Signing Each Premier League Club Needs Before Transfer Deadline

With less than a month left in the transfer window, every Premier League club still faces areas to strengthen. Despite the World Cup disruption, teams have been active, but significant signings remain crucial before the deadline hits on September 1.

Here is the primary position each of the 20 Premier League sides must address in the final weeks of the window.

Arsenal — Central Midfielder

While Arsenal have been linked with Vinícius Júnior for the wing, their central midfield needs more depth. Overdependence on Declan Rice last season drained his energy, as seen at the World Cup. With Martín Zubimendi inconsistent and younger options unproven, a box-to-box midfielder is needed. Bruno Guimarães of Newcastle is their top target to share minutes with Rice and enhance the squad's balance.

Aston Villa — Left Back

Aston Villa may lose Lucas Digne back to PSG, leaving just Ian Maatsen at left back. Maatsen shows promise but another experienced option is necessary, especially with Champions League commitments.

Bournemouth — Winger

The wide forward lineup at Bournemouth is thin beyond Rayan, who attracts attention from top European clubs and Saudi Arabia. New manager Marco Rose needs fresh attacking options as Ben Gannon-Doak, David Brooks, and Amine Adli lack impact. Europa League involvement increases the urgency.

Brentford — Left Back

Brentford require reinforcements at left back. Rico Henry’s injury history limits reliability, and Keane Lewis-Potter isn’t a natural fit there. A more dependable fullback is essential for consistent performance.

Brighton & Hove Albion — Striker

Following Danny Welbeck’s move to Chelsea, Brighton urgently need a striker to replace his 13 Premier League goals last season. Their current young forwards have yet to prove themselves at this level, and Conference League duties demand clinical finishing.

Chelsea — Goalkeeper

Chelsea have yet to secure a goalkeeper upgrade despite activity elsewhere. Robert Sánchez improved but lacks the elite quality the club seeks. Whether they back Sánchez or turn to Mike Penders remains uncertain, but an outstanding keeper is key for progress.

Coventry City — Left Back

Coventry City are close to signing goalkeeper Carl Rushworth permanently and will next target a left back. Manager Frank Lampard wants a seasoned defender to handle some of the league’s most dangerous right wingers. A striker is also on their wish list.

Crystal Palace — Center Back

Crystal Palace face a shortage at center back after Maxence Lacroix left for Chelsea. With limited senior options remaining, at least one or two new defenders are needed. A failed deal for Chrislain Matsima leaves the door open for alternatives.
