Premier League Clubs' Spending in the 2026/27 Transfer Window

Chelsea have already dropped more than £290 million during this summer's transfer window.

The Premier League season might be over, but the excitement never dies down thanks to the ever-busy transfer window. All 20 clubs are busy either strengthening their squads or balancing their books after last season’s results. Some are splashing cash, others are waiting for bargains before the window closes.

Clubs Ranked 20 to 16 by Net Spend

If the window shut now, these teams would enter the new season with positive balances, but whether that translates into squad strength remains to be seen.

• Nottingham Forest: Spent £17m, earned £123m, net +£106m
• Aston Villa: Spent £90m, earned £194m, net +£104m
• Crystal Palace: No spending, earned £52m, net +£52m
• Newcastle United: Spent £112m, earned £161m, net +£49m
• Sunderland: No spending, earned £19m, net +£19m

Nottingham Forest have only signed Gustavo Sa and loaned him out, but made a huge profit from selling Elliot Anderson to Manchester City for about £116m. Aston Villa cashed in on Morgan Rogers, Youri Tielemans, and Donyell Malen, reinvesting close to £100m on Johan Manzambi, Joao Gomes, and Alejandro Garnacho (loan). Crystal Palace haven't bought anyone yet but sold Maxence Lacroix to Chelsea for £52m. Newcastle have reshaped their squad, investing in young talent, while Sunderland has yet to spend but gained from selling Eliezer Mayenda.

• Hull City: Spent £3m, earned £10.5m, net +£7.5m
• Fulham: Spent £5m, earned £8.5m, net +£3.5m
• Leeds United: Spent £32m, earned £22m, net -£10m
• Brentford: Spent £30m, earned £6m, net -£24m
• Bournemouth: Spent £37m, earned £10m, net -£27m

Hull City and Fulham have kept their squads balanced, with multiple ins and outs. Leeds took a chance on Bosnian World Cup star Tarik Muharemović and snapped up Harry Wilson on a free, offsetting some costs by selling Pascal Struijk to Brighton. Brentford aim to bounce back after missing Europe, signing Jaidon Anthony and Jannik Schuster. Bournemouth, fresh off European qualification, strengthened their squad but lost Marcos Senesi to Spurs.

• Arsenal: Spent £68m, earned £32.5m, net -£35.5m
• Brighton: Spent £108m, earned £69.5m, net -£38.5m
• Coventry City: Spent £41m, no income, net -£41m
• Manchester United: Spent £83m, earned £38m, net -£45m
• Everton: Spent £56m, no income, net -£56m

Arsenal signed Christos Tzolis and made Piero Hincapié’s loan permanent for £34m but balanced that with departures like Leandro Trossard. Brighton passed £100m spending, with Luka Vušković the priciest at £46m, though Jan Paul van Hecke’s move to Spurs reduced some cost. Coventry City returned to the Premier League after 25 years and invested heavily without selling anyone yet. Manchester United reshaped midfield, bringing in Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, funded partly by Rasmus Hojlund’s sale. Everton focused on youth signings, including Chelsea's Tyrique George.

Ipswich Town have spent nearly £100m but favored volume over big fees, signing eight players with Emersonn costing £24m as the highest. Liverpool lost players on free transfers but made two major signings: Jeremy Jacquet for £54m and World Cup winner Víctor Muñoz. Manchester City focused on youth and sold Manuel Akanji and Nathan Aké for decent sums, with Elliot Anderson arriving for £116m. Tottenham under Roberto De Zerbi have spent over £200m, signing key players like Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes while getting free transfers in Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi. Chelsea, backed by Todd Boehly, lead spending just under £300m, adding young talents like Marco Palestra plus big buys Morgan Rogers (£118m from Aston Villa) and Maxence Lacroix (£52m from Crystal Palace) as Xabi Alonso begins his first season in charge.
