Premier League Managers Facing Potential Sackings During International Break

The international break has arrived, with players leaving to represent their countries worldwide. Premier League matches won't resume until October 10th.

Yet, not all managers will find this pause relaxing. Some face the possibility of losing their jobs before club football kicks off again.

Tottenham Hotspur currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League after three losses and two draws in their first five games. Expectations were high given the club’s huge investment, spending over £300 million on signings like Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Savio, and Jan Paul van Hecke. Despite this poor start, De Zerbi’s contract, signed for five years in April, might protect him from immediate dismissal due to the financial hit a termination would cause.

Michael Carrick

Manchester United showed promise under Carrick when he was interim coach last January. But results have taken a nosedive since he became permanent manager. The Red Devils are languishing in the league's bottom half, gathering only five points from five games with losses to teams like Hull City and Manchester City. While the club's leadership still supports Carrick, continued poor form may force a tough decision soon.

Alvaro Arbeloa

Fulham started their campaign with three straight defeats but managed draws against top teams like Liverpool and Manchester United. Arbeloa brought in several players from Castilla during the summer transfer window, which reportedly caused friction within the squad. If tensions persist and results don’t improve, his position could be at risk.

Frank Lampard

After leading Coventry City back to the Premier League following a Championship title, Lampard faces a difficult return to the top flight. Despite a recent win against Nottingham Forest, Coventry remain in the relegation zone after four losses in their opening five matches. Fans still support Lampard, but that might not last if the team's performance doesn't pick up.
