Premier League Summer 2026 Transfer Window Overview

The Premier League is back, the fixtures are flying in, and the chequebooks are still wide open. Early results are already twisting arms in boardrooms, pushing clubs to act fast, spend big, or cut loose.

Across the division, more than £2.5bn has gone out the door this summer. One deal towers over the rest: Morgan Rogers at a staggering £117m, the headline signing of the window so far. Not far behind, Elliott Anderson has joined Man City for £116m, while Sandro Tonali’s £100m move to Tottenham underlines how aggressively the top clubs are still willing to gamble.

And the market is not done yet. Liverpool are hunting a winger and prepared to go heavy, with Bradley Barcola among the names firmly on their radar. Arsenal have also been linked with the PSG wide man, hinting at a late tug-of-war if either club decides to move decisively.

All of that drama is framed by the clock. Here is how the deadlines line up across the major competitions.

Premier League summer 2026 deadline

In England, the summer transfer window opened on Monday 15 June. The key date now is Tuesday 1 September, when the window slams shut at 11pm BST.

There is a two-hour grace period after that cut-off, allowing clubs to file the final paperwork. Deals agreed in time can still be pushed over the line, but only if the documents land before that grace window closes.

Scotland’s summer 2026 window

Scotland is working to a slightly different rhythm.

The Scottish window opened on the same day as England, 15 June, but it stays open longer. Clubs north of the border have until 3 September, with a 5pm BST deadline, giving them two extra days to manoeuvre after the Premier League has closed its business.

WSL summer 2026 window

The Women’s Super League runs on its own schedule again.

The WSL summer window opened on Tuesday 16 June and will stay open until Thursday 3 September. The deadline is set for 11pm BST, mirroring the late cut-off used in the Premier League but on a slightly extended calendar.

European deadlines

Across Europe, the timing is tight and unforgiving.

In Spain, LaLiga clubs must complete their business by 10.59pm on 1 September. In Germany, the Bundesliga shuts earlier: the deadline is 31 August at 7pm, forcing German clubs to move faster than most of their continental rivals.

Serie A sides in Italy have until 1 September as well, but their business must be wrapped up by 8pm. Miss that, and any planned reinforcement will have to wait.

Winter 2027 window

Attention will quickly turn to the mid-season market once the summer chaos dies down.

In England, the winter transfer window opens on 1 January 2027 and closes on 1 February at 11pm GMT, offering another month-long scramble for reinforcements.

Scotland starts slightly later. The window there opens on 5 January and shuts on 4 February at 5pm GMT, again running on its own timetable but broadly in step with the Premier League.

The WSL winter window opens on 4 January and closes on 4 February, matching Scotland’s final day. Another short, sharp burst of business, right in the heart of the season.
