PSG Nearing Major Signing of Ajax Winger Mika Godts

Paris Saint-Germain are closing in on another major attacking reshuffle, with a verbal agreement in place to sign Ajax winger Mika Godts in a deal worth €55m (£46.9m).

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reported on X that PSG have verbally agreed a package with the Dutch club after submitting a new official bid. The paperwork has not yet been exchanged, but the Ligue 1 champions appear to have their man lined up.

This move comes alongside a separate agreement to bring Barcelona forward Ferran Torres to Paris, a double swoop that dramatically strengthens Luis Enrique’s options in the wide areas and through the middle. It also sharpens the focus on one name: Bradley Barcola.

Godts and Torres in, Barcola edging towards the exit

Once Godts and Torres walk through the door, Barcola’s situation changes. PSG will be overloaded in attacking roles, and the club is expected to listen more seriously to offers for the France international.

PSG had been holding out for around £145m for Barcola, a figure that has loomed large over negotiations. Liverpool, by contrast, have been working to an internal valuation closer to £100m. The gap is significant, but the dynamics of the market have shifted.

With two high-profile forwards arriving, PSG’s need to trim the squad and balance the books grows. That is where Liverpool come in.

Liverpool waiting for their moment

Liverpool have been in regular contact with PSG this week over Barcola, anticipating exactly this kind of movement at the Parc des Princes. Those conversations now carry extra weight.

The expectation is clear: if Godts and Torres complete their switches without late drama, the French champions will be more open to finding a compromise on Barcola’s fee. A middle ground between their initial £145m stance and Liverpool’s £100m valuation is the logical landing spot, though no figure has been agreed.

Liverpool’s interest does not stop there. Ibrahim Mbaye, the highly rated 18-year-old at PSG, has also been mentioned as a player who could attract attention, even if any move for him remains speculative at this stage.

Clock ticking for Liverpool’s summer plan

The timing is tight. Liverpool face Newcastle away in nine days and have already lost the chance to integrate Barcola, or any other major arrival, during pre-season. Any deal now would require the Frenchman to adapt on the fly to a new league, a new system and new teammates.

Still, the dominoes are lined up. PSG are on the verge of reshaping their attack with Godts from Ajax and Torres from Barcelona. Once those deals are signed off, the pressure to offload “spare parts” in Enrique’s squad will only grow.

Liverpool are in position, talks are active, and the window shuts in September.
