PSG Close to Signing Mika Godts as Barcola Replacement

Paris Saint-Germain’s summer rebuild is starting to move in sequence – and two wingers now sit at the heart of it.

The French champions are closing in on Ajax wide man Mika Godts, with the Belgian earmarked as the direct replacement for Bradley Barcola. The moment Godts walks through the door in Paris, PSG expect the exit door to swing open for their France international.

Godts deal drives Barcola exit

PSG have tabled a fresh offer for Godts that now sits close to Ajax’s valuation, and an agreement for the 21-year-old is expected to be within reach this weekend. Jorge Mendes is involved in the talks and has been helping to drive the negotiations forward.

The proposed transfer for Godts is understood to be worth around €50m. Inside PSG, his signing is viewed as the key that finally unlocks Barcola’s departure after the club initially dug in with a £145m price tag for the winger.

That stance has softened.

PSG have informed Liverpool they are ready to lower their demands, but the Premier League side must move significantly from their current position if they want to close the deal.

Liverpool in pole position – but short on price

Barcola has already agreed personal terms with Liverpool, and his preference for a move to Anfield has been clear from the start of the process. Arsenal have monitored the situation and even held talks, but Liverpool remain at the front of the queue, with the 23-year-old having already committed to the switch in principle.

The only real battle now is financial.

Liverpool currently value a potential deal at around £100m. PSG sources believe they could ultimately accept a package closer to £125m. That figure would still be enough to make Barcola the most expensive British transfer of all time, eclipsing last summer’s record move that took Alexander Isak to Newcastle.

PSG have made it clear there is room to negotiate, yet they want a meaningful step from Liverpool’s side before talks can accelerate.

PSG’s wider attacking reshuffle

This is not a one-off move. It is part of a broader attacking succession plan in Paris.

Ferran Torres already has an agreement in place to join from Barcelona, lined up as the replacement for Goncalo Ramos. Maghnes Akliouche has arrived to take the role vacated by Lee Kang-In. Godts, in that carefully drawn blueprint, is the man specifically chosen to fill the void Barcola would leave.

That is why PSG are pushing so hard to wrap up the Godts deal quickly. Once Ajax and PSG find common ground, the final barrier to Barcola’s move will be stripped back to a single issue: how far Liverpool are willing to go on the fee.

For now, the pieces are sliding into position. Godts is edging towards Paris. Barcola is waiting for Anfield. And PSG, at last, are ready to bend on a valuation that could reshape Liverpool’s attack and redraw the top end of the transfer market.
