Rafael Leao Addresses Transfer Rumors

Rafael Leao has had enough.

The Milan forward broke his silence on Instagram, firing a clear warning at the swirl of rumours around his future and calling out the “speculation and stories that aren’t true” about a move away from San Siro.

Leao, 27, used an Instagram Story to draw a hard line. Alongside a photo of himself in training with the Rossoneri, he wrote that his mind is fixed on the pitch, not on transfer gossip. His message was blunt: judge him on his football, not on the noise.

“My only thought is on the field: I am concentrated on giving my best, every single game and every single training session,” he wrote, before turning directly to the question of who actually speaks for him. “Just to avoid any form of speculation and stories that aren’t true, I repeat that for some time I’ve assigned all my interests exclusively to my family and my lawyers. Nobody else is authorised to speak for me. My mind is on the next objectives.”

That last line was no accident. With the transfer window open and his name repeatedly linked with a move, Leao wanted to shut down any suggestion that intermediaries or would‑be agents are driving his future.

The timing is telling. Galatasaray are pushing to lure the former Lille winger to Istanbul, with the Turkish champions regularly mentioned as front-runners in a race that also includes Fenerbahce and Besiktas. Leao had hinted at the end of last season that his cycle in Milan might be coming to a natural end, and a switch to one of Europe’s top five leagues was widely expected.

It hasn’t arrived. That vacuum has dragged the Super Lig into the frame.

Milan, though, are not blinking. Reports in Italy suggest Galatasaray have already tested the waters with an offer in the region of €35 million. The answer was a firm no. The Rossoneri are said to value Leao at a total package of at least €60 million, bonuses included, before they will even sit down to seriously discuss a sale.

So while clubs circle, Leao has publicly tightened his inner circle. By explicitly naming only his family and lawyers as the people authorised to handle his affairs, he has effectively disowned any agents or brokers who might be floating his name to Galatasaray or anyone else.

The backdrop is a contract that runs until June 2028. That long-term deal gives Milan strong leverage. They are under no immediate pressure to sell and have shown no rush to renegotiate fresh terms, even as interest grows abroad.

It leaves a delicate balance: a player who has openly flirted with the idea of a “fresh challenge,” a club willing to cash in at the right price, and a transfer market that still has weeks to run.

If August brings a bid that hits Milan’s valuation, the story changes in an instant. Until then, Leao insists the only place he wants to speak is on the pitch.
