Real Madrid Ends Summer Signings: Mourinho's Squad Finalized

Real Madrid’s summer of upheaval is officially over. After weeks of noise, rumours and late-window plotting, the club have decided: no more arrivals.

According to journalist Jose Felix Diaz, speaking via Ruben Martin’s YouTube channel, the Spanish giants will not make any further signings before the window closes on Tuesday, 1 September, at midnight. The market will end with what they already have.

That still leaves them with a radically reshaped squad.

Mourinho’s Madrid takes shape

The first big change came on the bench. Jose Mourinho walked back through the doors of the Santiago Bernabeu as the headline appointment of the summer, and the club quickly armed him with a wave of new players.

Six major signings followed.

The overhaul began with World Cup winner Marc Cucurella, then centre-back Ibrahima Konate, playmaker Bernardo Silva, right-back Denzel Dumfries and, towering over them all in financial terms, Yan Diomande.

The Ivorian winger has become the most expensive signing in Real Madrid’s history: €140 million including add-ons, at just 19 years of age. He arrives as the marquee name of the Mourinho era, the player expected to change games and, perhaps, the direction of the project.

On top of that, the club moved again today, adding another 19-year-old, midfielder Sergio Martinez from Racing Santander. He will start with Castilla, but his arrival underlines the club’s parallel bet on youth beneath the first-team fireworks.

Targets missed, plans adjusted

For weeks, Real Madrid were still hunting more. The club pushed hard to bring in a top midfielder, only to watch their main target slip away. Rodri chose FC Barcelona instead, a painful twist given the rivalry and the importance of the role Mourinho wanted to fill.

At the back, the coach also pressed for a left-footed centre-back. Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni was his preferred option, a defender who would have added balance and distribution from the left side of defence. Negotiations never truly caught fire. The move died quietly.

The pressure to keep searching was there. Mourinho wanted more depth in midfield and another profile in defence. The club listened, explored, talked. And then stopped.

With one day left in the window, the verdict is clear: Real Madrid are done buying.

Door closed for arrivals, half-open for exits

The freeze on signings does not mean the squad is locked in stone.

Diaz reports that the club are still open to departures before the deadline. Outgoing deals remain on the table, even if they are proving complicated.

Eduardo Camavinga is at the centre of that tension. Real Madrid have tried to move him on and the midfielder has been heavily linked with the Premier League. The club are prepared to sanction an exit. The player is not. So far, Camavinga has refused to leave, holding his ground despite the pressure and the uncertainty around his role under Mourinho.

Raul Asencio faces a similar crossroads. The academy product does not feature prominently in Mourinho’s plans and has been made available for a transfer. Yet, like Camavinga, he is reluctant to walk away from the Bernabeu, even with minutes likely to be scarce.

The clock is ticking. The stance is firm on one side: no more new faces. The question now hangs over the other side of the market.
