Robin Roefs Signs New Deal with Sunderland Until 2031

Robin Roefs has tied his future to Sunderland, signing a new deal that keeps him on Wearside until 2031 – a statement of intent from both goalkeeper and club after a breakout season.

The 20-year-old’s first campaign in red and white transformed him from a promising signing into a cornerstone of the Black Cats’ resurgence, his presence in goal underpinning a push to seventh place and a Europa League spot.

Sunderland sporting director Florent Ghisolfi made no attempt to hide the club’s delight as he spoke to the club’s official channels, stressing that Roefs’ value stretches far beyond his shot-stopping.

“We are very pleased that Robin has committed his future to Sunderland until 2031,” Ghisolfi said. “He had a strong first season with us, but what we value just as much is his humility, his willingness to work and his desire to keep improving every day.
