RTÉ to Broadcast Ireland's UEFA Nations League Matches Against Israel

RTÉ will show the Republic of Ireland’s upcoming UEFA Nations League games against Israel – but only in the most basic form required by contract.

Ireland face Israel in Debrecen, Hungary, on 27 September in the designated ‘away’ fixture, with the return ‘home’ game set for 4 October in Backa Topola, Serbia. RTÉ is obliged to broadcast both matches, and will do so, but the usual trappings of a major international night on Irish television will be stripped away.

There will be no studio presentation. No panel. No build-up or post-match debate.

Commentary will come from the international feed, meaning viewers will not hear an RTÉ commentator on either game. A minimal technical crew will be on duty purely to ensure the pictures go to air.

RTÉ has also confirmed it will not take any advertising or sponsorship around the fixtures.

While the live coverage will be bare-bones, the broadcaster says there will still be news reporting of the matches and of the wider events surrounding them.
