Sofie Lundgaard Joins Eintracht Frankfurt After Liverpool Exit

Sofie Lundgaard has ended her spell at Liverpool, sealing a permanent move to Eintracht Frankfurt for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old arrived on Merseyside in January 2023 and featured 42 times, a tally that hints at her influence but only tells part of the story. Her time in red was repeatedly interrupted by serious injury, with two anterior cruciate ligament ruptures over three-and-a-half years cutting into her rhythm and restricting her minutes just as she looked ready to kick on.

Now she heads to the Frauen-Bundesliga, joining a Frankfurt side with European ambitions and a reputation for developing technically sharp midfielders. Before Liverpool, Lundgaard built her name at Fortuna Hjorring in Denmark, and this move offers a fresh start in another of Europe’s top leagues.

Potential Move for Fatou Kanteh

While Lundgaard changes countries, one potential move closer to home has stalled. In the Women’s Super League picture, Birmingham City have seen a bid rejected for Sevilla winger Fatou Kanteh.

The Blues are understood to have offered around 100,000 Euros (£85,000) for the Gambia international. Sevilla turned it down. The Spanish club value the 29-year-old significantly higher and do not want to lose a player who has become a key part of their attack.

That stance looks decisive. Birmingham are not expected to return with an improved offer, leaving Kanteh set to continue in Liga F, where she has spent her entire senior career.

Kanteh has scored 12 goals in 63 appearances for Sevilla, having previously represented Villarreal, Huelva and Logrono. For now, her future remains in Spain, while Lundgaard’s next chapter begins in Frankfurt.
