Tottenham Blocks Richarlison's Move to UAE

Tottenham have turned down an offer from Shabab Al Ahli for Richarlison, shutting the door on a late escape route to the UAE and leaving the Brazilian forward stuck in North London until at least January.

The UAE Pro League side pushed to reunite Richarlison with former Brazil Olympic coach Andre Jardine, who was driving the move and keen to work with him again. After failed approaches from Everton, Trabzonspor and Vasco da Gama earlier in the window, this looked like the last realistic chance for a departure before winter.

Tottenham, though, were unmoved.

The proposal from Shabab Al Ahli, which included the possibility of Richarlison moving again in January, was not viewed as acceptable by Spurs. Club sources indicate the decision came down to the structure and terms of the deal, not any reluctance on the player’s part. Richarlison had been open to the idea and seriously considering the switch.

The Middle East window remains open for just over a week, but unless something dramatic changes, Richarlison will not be heading to Dubai. Shabab Al Ahli’s bid has been rejected and, for now, there is no alternative on the table.

That leaves the 29-year-old in a harsh limbo.

Richarlison has been left out of Tottenham’s Premier League squad, cutting him off from competitive top-flight football until the turn of the year. Unless Spurs suffer an injury crisis or perform a major U-turn, he is staring at three-and-a-half months without first-team action.

His future has hung in the balance all summer. Everton explored a reunion. Trabzonspor and Vasco da Gama also tested the waters. None of those moves materialised. Shabab Al Ahli then emerged as a fresh option, only for Spurs to shut that down as well.

Tottenham must now decide how to manage a high-profile, high-earning forward who cannot feature in their league campaign before January and whose long-term role remains unclear. Richarlison is under contract until the end of the season, with the club holding an option to extend for a further year, but that clause only has value if there is a plan for him.

For now, the reality is stark: the latest attempt to move him on has failed, the door to the UAE has closed, and Richarlison stays at Tottenham – on the books, on the training pitch, but on the outside looking in.
