Tottenham and Everton Agree Swap Deal Involving Iliman Ndiaye and Richarlison Amidst Premier League Turmoil

Tottenham Hotspur and Everton have reached agreements in principle for two major transfers that will see Iliman Ndiaye move to north London, while Richarlison returns to Merseyside. These moves come during a challenging start to the Premier League season for Spurs, who remain winless so far.

Separate Transactions Finalized

According to The Athletic, both clubs are close to completing these separate deals, though they still await medical examinations and personal terms finalization. Ndiaye's transfer follows his refusal of multiple contract extension offers from Everton last season.

This signing helps Tottenham recover after missing out on Liverpool's forward Cody Gakpo, who chose a transfer to Manchester City instead.

De Zerbi Comments on Player Departures Amid Club Struggles

Spurs’ head coach, Roberto De Zerbi, revealed that Richarlison, alongside Kevin Danso and Pape Matar Sarr, requested to leave the club before the recent transfer deadline. All three were left out of the 2-0 home loss to Newcastle United.

"Richarlison, I don't know. He said too many times he wants to leave," De Zerbi stated. "Danso came to me two days ago and said he wants to leave. Pape Sarr is the same, although he suffered a small injury but is almost ready to train."

He added that there is no bad blood despite their wishes to exit. "I love these players, and they are great guys. I have very good relationships. But if they want to leave, they need to offer an economic solution to the club, then they can go and we find other players."

Richarlison’s Return to Everton and Spurs’ Difficult Season

Richarlison departs Tottenham after scoring 32 goals in 134 appearances since his £60 million move in 2022. He rejoins Everton, where he was a fan favourite with 53 goals in 152 games.

Tottenham’s £350 million summer overhaul appears to be unraveling. Big-money signings like £100 million midfielder Sandro Tonali and forwards Omar Marmoush and Savinho have yet to make a significant impact. Spurs narrowly avoided relegation last season and face similar struggles now.

Currently at the bottom of the Premier League table, Tottenham’s recent results include a 3-0 defeat at Brentford and a 2-0 loss to Newcastle, marking their first time since 1974-75 losing their opening two league matches without scoring.
