Tottenham Targets Savinho and Marmoush in Double Deal from Man City
Tottenham are trying to rip two forwards out of Manchester City in one move, with Savinho and Marmoush at the centre of an ambitious late-window play, according to The Athletic.
Nothing is signed. Not yet. But talks between the two Premier League clubs are described as progressing well, and the shape of a double deal is starting to form.
Savinho back on the radar
Spurs know Savinho well. They went hard for the Brazilian last summer, only to be rebuffed when City refused to cash in.
This time, the mood feels different.
Savinho was left out of City’s squad for the 3-0 Community Shield defeat to Arsenal on Sunday, a notable omission for a player previously ring-fenced as part of their future. With discussions now active, Tottenham sense an opening they didn’t have a year ago.
Marmoush the finisher
On the other side of the deal sits Marmoush, long viewed as one of the more expendable pieces in Pep Guardiola’s attack.
The forward has spent his time at City as understudy to Erling Haaland, and a move this summer has been widely expected. His numbers before arriving in Manchester explain why Spurs are interested: 15 goals in 17 games in his final half-season at Eintracht Frankfurt. That is the profile of a striker who finishes chances, not just one who fills a squad slot.
For Roberto De Zerbi, who has been pushing for more firepower, Marmoush would arrive as a ready-made option through the middle.
A spending spree with a plan
If Tottenham pull off the Savinho–Marmoush double, it will cap one of the most aggressive summers in the club’s modern history.
They have already committed around £229.5 million on Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke. On top of that, they have moved smartly in the free-transfer market, adding Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka without a fee.
This is not scattergun. The club remain within financial regulations, underpinned by a clear shift in strategy from majority owners ENIC, who are now injecting significant funds into the squad. Big outgoing deals have helped too, most notably Luka Vuskovic’s move to Brighton for a guaranteed £46m.
The result is a Tottenham side being rebuilt at speed, but not recklessly.
De Zerbi’s “bomba” and the need up front
Earlier this month, De Zerbi teased supporters with talk of a surprise “bomba” signing. If Savinho and Marmoush both arrive from City, that promise will look less like theatre and more like planning.
Tottenham’s need in attack is obvious. Richarlison has just one year left on his contract. Dominic Solanke has struggled to stay fit. The depth chart up front has started to look fragile for a club with top-four ambitions.
Savinho would bring pace and directness out wide. Marmoush would offer a penalty-box presence and a proven scoring touch from his Bundesliga spell. Together, they would reshape the frontline in a way that matches De Zerbi’s expansive, front-foot football.
Top-four statement or missed chance?
For now, the work is diplomatic and detailed. Spurs are locked in talks with City, trying to turn positive conversations into signatures before the window closes.
If they get both over the line, De Zerbi will walk into the autumn with one of the most dangerous attacking units in the league and a squad built to sustain a top-four push, not just flirt with it.
If they fall short, the question will hang over north London: did Tottenham come close to building a fearsome new front line, only to stop one deal short?
