Tottenham's Transfer Spree: De Zerbi Hails Sávio and Marmoush as Bomba

Tottenham’s transfer spree shows no sign of slowing, and Roberto De Zerbi is loving every second of it.

The Italian head coach has hailed new arrivals Sávio and Omar Marmoush as “bomba” after Spurs completed a headline-grabbing double deal from Manchester City this week, pushing their summer outlay past the £350 million mark.

Sávio arrives in a package worth £85m, a statement signing in both price and profile. Marmoush joins on a season-long loan that includes an obligation to buy, a clause that could eventually take the total cost of the Egyptian forward up to £60m. Big money, big expectations.

Yet De Zerbi sounded anything but anxious as he looked ahead to Saturday’s Premier League clash with Newcastle.

“I think Sávio and Marmoush are bomba,” he said. “I don't know what name or how you can call them but players of a high level, for sure.”

The numbers back up the excitement around Marmoush. He arrives in north London off the back of a prolific run: 37 goals at Eintracht Frankfurt, then 16 at Manchester City. Those returns give Spurs another serious threat in the final third at a time when James Maddison is not fully fit and Mohammed Kudus is only just returning from injury.

“A great signing for us. A great player, another great player and every one of us loves him as a player,” De Zerbi said of Marmoush. “We hope he can do what he is able. I think he can give more solutions in attack. We need players in attack capable to score goals, to play well with the ball also, a very fast player, great qualities and we are all happy.”

The scale of Tottenham’s window has surprised even the man at the centre of it.

“I didn't expect one transfer market and one window like we have done,” De Zerbi admitted, reflecting on a frantic summer that has reshaped his squad and underlined the club’s ambition.

And they are not done yet.

Despite the huge outlay and the late stage of the window, De Zerbi made it clear Spurs are still hunting at least one more addition before Tuesday night’s deadline. Talks with the club’s powerbrokers have been intense but, by his account, harmonious.

“I think we can do one player more and in one specific position,” he said. “But yesterday we went for dinner with the owners, with Vinai [Venkatesham], with Johan [Lange] and with Enrico [Venturelli]. We spoke about this, but we have all of us on the same page and there is a very good connection.”

That alignment at the top has fuelled a recruitment drive of rare aggression for Tottenham. Sávio adds flair, incision and unpredictability. Marmoush brings goals, pace and directness, plus the profile to challenge immediately for minutes up front.

The message is unmistakable: Spurs are arming De Zerbi for a serious tilt at the Premier League’s elite. Now the question hangs over north London—how far can this “bomba” front line take them?
