Tyrell Malacia Joins FC Cincinnati from Manchester United

Tyrell Malacia is heading to MLS, with FC Cincinnati snapping up the former Manchester United left-back on a free transfer.

The 27-year-old Netherlands international, who left Old Trafford at the end of last season, has signed a deal that runs until next June, with an option that could keep him in Cincinnati through the 2027-28 campaign.

Malacia arrives in Ohio after an injury-disrupted spell at United, where he made 50 appearances following his move from Feyenoord in 2022. When fit, he offered energy, aggression and bite down the left, but consistent minutes became harder to find as injuries stalled his momentum.

"We are excited to add a player of Tyrell's experience," Albright said. "He's played at the highest levels of the game and understands the demands of competing in those environments.

"His quality on the ball, defensive instincts, and team-first mentality is a welcome addition to the group and we're happy to have him in Cincinnati."

For a club with growing ambitions, this is a statement in one of the most demanding positions on the pitch. Now it’s over to Malacia to turn a fresh start in MLS into a second act worthy of his early promise.
