Valencia in Talks with Liverpool for Harvey Elliott Loan

Valencia are in talks with Liverpool over a loan move for midfielder Harvey Elliott until the end of the season, as the Spanish club push to add creativity without breaking their budget.

The 23-year-old, who spent last season at Aston Villa, struggled to make an impact in the league there, managing just one Premier League start. Now he finds himself on the fringes again, this time at Anfield.

Valencia, ninth in La Liga last season and absent from European competition, have been exploring ways to structure a deal that fits their financial reality. Central to the negotiations is salary: the Spanish side want Liverpool to pay half of Elliott’s wages to get the move over the line.

Elliott had seemed firmly in the picture during pre-season, featuring regularly under new head coach Andoni Iraola and looking well placed to carve out a role. Once the real stuff started, that picture changed. He has been left out of Liverpool’s first two Premier League matchday squads.

Time now becomes a factor. La Liga’s transfer window shuts on Tuesday at 23:00 BST. If Valencia are going to give Elliott the platform and minutes he has been missing, both clubs will have to move quickly.
