Victor Osimhen Makes Galatasaray History with Latest Brace

Victor Osimhen is rewriting the record books in Istanbul, one ruthless finish at a time.

The Nigeria international struck twice on Friday night as Galatasaray swept aside Erzurum FK 4-0, a result that did more than just keep the champions’ early-season momentum intact. Those goals pushed Osimhen to 62 strikes in 76 appearances for the club and lifted him into third place on Galatasaray’s all-time list of highest-scoring foreign players.

The brace moved him past former Czech Republic forward Milan Baros, who hit 61 goals during his own prolific spell with the Istanbul giants. Turkish outlet A Spor highlighted the milestone on X shortly after full-time, underlining just how quickly Osimhen has climbed into elite company.

He has not only been scoring. Since arriving at Galatasaray, the 27-year-old has also supplied 16 assists, sharpening an attack already packed with star power and turning himself into the reference point of the champions’ front line.

Only two foreign players now stand above him in the club’s scoring hierarchy. Mauro Icardi leads the way with 77 goals, while Romanian icon Gheorghe Hagi sits second on 72. That gap is shrinking.

Osimhen has opened the new Süper Lig campaign in a blaze. His double against Erzurum FK took his tally to at least four goals across Galatasaray’s first two league fixtures, making him the first player since Brazilian striker Mario Jardel in the 2000/01 season to reach that mark so quickly.

The numbers tell a clear story: Galatasaray’s title defence is being driven by a centre-forward operating at historic levels. The only question now is how far up that foreign scorers list Osimhen can climb before the season is done.
