Yves Bissouma Set for Ajax Move

Yves Bissouma is closing in on a move to Ajax, with the former Tottenham midfielder set to sign an initial deal running until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old, a free agent since his Spurs contract expired in June, is in Amsterdam to finalise the switch and seal his return to top-level football in the Netherlands. The agreement is expected to include an option for Ajax to extend his stay by a further 12 months.

For the Mali international, it marks a fresh chapter after a turbulent end to his time in north London. Bissouma joined Tottenham from Brighton in 2022 in a high-profile move and went on to make 111 appearances for the club, operating as a defensive anchor in midfield.

His Spurs story faded abruptly. In August 2025, then Tottenham manager Thomas Frank omitted Bissouma from the squad to face Paris St-Germain in the Uefa Super Cup, citing persistent lateness. It proved a symbolic moment, underlining how far his stock had fallen after arriving as one of the Premier League’s most coveted ball-winners.
