Yves Bissouma Set for Ajax Return

Yves Bissouma is closing in on a return to football, with Ajax set to hand the former Tottenham midfielder a short-term lifeline in Amsterdam.

The 30-year-old, released by Spurs in June at the end of his contract, is finalising an initial deal that will run until the end of the season, with an option for a further 12 months. The Mali international is already in the Dutch capital as the Eredivisie club moves to complete the signing.

For Bissouma, it marks a fresh start after a turbulent end to his time in north London. He joined Tottenham from Brighton in 2022 in a high-profile move and went on to make 111 appearances for the club, anchoring the midfield with his energy and ball-winning.

His Spurs chapter, though, faded abruptly. In August 2025, then Tottenham manager Thomas Frank left him out of the squad for the UEFA Super Cup clash against Paris St-Germain, citing persistent lateness. It proved a symbolic moment, hinting at a relationship that had run its course.

Now comes Ajax. A new league, a new dressing room, and a contract built on opportunity: perform over the coming months, and a full additional year awaits.
