Jules Kounde Could Be a Clever Signing for Arsenal, Says Romano
Jules Kounde might be a smart choice for Arsenal as they quietly search for a new centre-back, according to football insider Fabrizio Romano. The Gunners are facing a challenge after losing William Saliba to a serious injury that could sideline him for much of the season. This has pushed the club to explore options to strengthen their defense.
Romano revealed that Arsenal is working behind the scenes on signing a new defender, although nothing concrete has emerged about Kounde despite ongoing transfer rumors. On his YouTube channel, Romano pointed out Kounde’s flexibility in playing both centre-back and right-back, which could make him a valuable asset for the squad.
Romano Comments on Kounde and Arsenal's Defensive Plans
“Arsenal are working behind the scenes on a new centre-back,” Romano explained. “Tottenham are not selling Romero to Arsenal. I told you, this is why Romero is close to Atletico Madrid.”
“Arsenal are still looking for a centre-back on the market. Kounde, in my personal opinion, would be a smart solution because he can be a right-back, he can be a centre-back.”
“So, it would be a good solution for Arsenal who probably need to cover both positions in terms of players, but we will see how many they will add. Maybe it’s going to be just one, but at the moment from both sides they are not confirming any advanced negotiations for Jules Kounde to Arsenal. Should anything change, I will let you know.”
Could Kounde Join Arsenal?
There’s no clear sign that Arsenal are making serious moves for Kounde yet. Maybe they’re keeping things quiet. Romano’s hints suggest this could become an interesting story to follow. He rarely shares opinions or speculation about big names and clubs unless there’s some substance behind it.
Kounde would bring versatility and experience to Mikel Arteta’s squad. His arrival could help ease the absence of injured defenders like Saliba and Jurrien Timber, providing reliable cover in defence.
- William Saliba: Out for much of the season due to injury
- Jurrien Timber: Currently injured
- Kounde's Position Flexibility: Centre-back and right-back
