Tyson Fury Plans to Invite Donald Trump for Anthony Joshua Fight
Tyson Fury is known for turning his boxing matches into grand events, often starting the show well before the first punch lands. His entrances frequently feature dramatic pyrotechnics and music to energize both the crowd and viewers at home.
The heavyweight champion looks set to bring similar flair to what might be the biggest British boxing match ever, when he faces former unified heavyweight titleholder Anthony Joshua on December 11th at Cardiff's Principality Stadium.
But this time, Fury plans something that could spark controversy. He's reportedly offering an invitation to Donald Trump, the President of the United States, to join him during his ring walk for the fight.
The Long-Awaited Fury vs Joshua Clash
After years of delays caused by stubborn negotiations and some ill-timed losses for both fighters, the anticipated superfight between Fury and Joshua seems ready to happen, on British soil.
Fury has openly stated he wants the highest possible payday from this fight—even if it means the bout might not take place. When rumors circulated about the fight possibly occurring at New York's Madison Square Garden, Fury was eager to accept, knowing it would mean a bigger payday.
However, Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn insisted the fight had to be in the UK or not at all. Joshua even agreed to a significant pay cut to keep the event on British ground. Eventually, the 74,000-capacity Principality Stadium in Wales was selected as the venue.
Fury's Legendary Ring Walks
No matter the location, Fury consistently creates an unforgettable atmosphere with his ring entrances. In 2020, during his rematch with Deontay Wilder where he claimed the WBC title, he arrived wearing a robe and crown while seated on a throne at the MGM Grand. For their trilogy fight in 2021, he walked out dressed as a Spartan warrior, with AC/DC's "You Shook Me All Night Long" playing.
Defending his WBC belt against Dillian Whyte in early 2022 at Wembley, Fury combined the songs "American Pie," "Jerusalem," and "Your Sex Is On Fire," complemented by ring gear inspired by the English flag. His bouts with Oleksandr Usyk saw similarly theatrical entrances: "Holding Out For A Hero" in May 2024 and "All I Want For Christmas Is You" in their December rematch.
Trump's Possible Role in December
For the upcoming fight with Joshua, Fury intends to revive his elaborate style but also take a risk outside the ring by involving the US President. He said,
"I'll definitely make that offer to my old buddy, and we'll see if he's available. It's probably unlikely because of the situation he's in at the moment, being the President of the United States."
Fury acknowledges that Trump's current commitments—such as the mid-term elections in November and ongoing international conflicts—make his attendance unlikely, especially since the fight is no longer happening in the US.
