India and Pakistan both reached the men's cricket semifinals at the Asian Games without bowling a single ball. Persistent rain and soggy fields in Nisshin forced organizers to call off the quarterfinal matches on Monday morning.

Pakistan advanced after their quarterfinal against Hong Kong was abandoned due to wet conditions. Their higher T20I ranking ensured progression. Shortly after, India's match versus Afghanistan was also scrapped 16 minutes before the scheduled toss because of continued rain and poor field conditions. Since India holds a superior ICC T20I ranking as of July 23, 2026, they moved through to the semis.

Teams Eliminated Without Playing

• Afghanistan: Lost out due to rain; captain Mohammad Akram Zazai expressed frustration about missing the opportunity to compete.

Zazai lamented that his team was ready to face India and was familiar with the pitch, having played twice already on the same ground. He wished even a few overs had been possible, believing his side could have challenged India despite the shortened format.

"We are here for the match but unfortunately it rained," said Zazai. "The rain started yesterday, so hard luck for us. We would have been happy to play here with India - our players are in form. We already played two matches here, so we know the condition very well. But unfortunately the rain has ruined everything."
