Novak Djokovic says he is "feeling good" ahead of his first match at the China Open, marking his return to competition since his surprising first-round loss at the US Open. The Serbian star, seeded sixth in Beijing, will face Nuno Borges in his opening match at this ATP 500 event.

After the unexpected defeat by Mariano Navone at the US Open in late August, Djokovic gave an update on how he's been feeling physically. Speaking with reporters in Beijing, he said:

"Yeah, feeling good so far. Let's see. Obviously it's completely different when you're playing an official match compared to practice sets or sessions. But so far, so good."

He added that coming to China has always been a positive experience, citing his strong history there as a source of confidence:

"My record speaks for itself on the Chinese soil. Knowing that also brings this dimension of confidence that I really need. Overall, it's been really good so far with the body, the way I'm feeling and playing."

Djokovic’s claim about his success in China might actually undersell it. He holds an impressive 29-0 win-loss record in Beijing and has won the title six times. Despite not playing at this venue since 2015, he expressed happiness at returning:

"At this stage of my career, it's also about tournaments where I enjoy playing, where I've had past success, and where fans welcome me positively. The history of my results on Chinese soil has been incredible. I haven't played here in 11 years because scheduling only allowed me to compete in Shanghai before. This year, Beijing was prioritized and I'm really glad to be here."
