Barcelona can see Julian Alvarez. They just can’t reach him.

The Catalan club’s pursuit of the Atletico Madrid striker is still alive, still active, and very much desired inside the sporting department. But there is a hard, uncompromising number standing in the way: €150 million. Cash. Upfront. No tricks, no swaps, no staggered payments.

Atletico’s message to Barcelona could not be clearer.

Atletico draw a hard line

According to SPORT, Atletico Madrid are willing to sit at the negotiating table with Barcelona, but only on their terms. Those terms are brutal for a club operating under tight financial constraints.

• No “creative” financial engineering.
• And no players.

Atletico have already ruled out any form of exchange deal. Names that might normally be floated to soften a fee – Ferran Torres, Marc Casado, or any other piece Deco might try to slide into the package – have been dismissed before talks even begin.

It is a stance rooted in control. Publicly, Atletico have insisted they do not want to sell Alvarez this summer. Privately, there has been the slightest shift: the player’s desire for a new challenge has opened a crack in the door. But if he goes, he goes on their terms only.

A striker who wants out

One crucial detail shapes the entire saga: Alvarez has already expressed his wish to leave.
