Bay FC Signs Teen Playmaker Kennedy Fuller for $500,000

BAY FC have planted a flag in the NWSL marketplace, landing one of the league’s most gifted young creators in a deal that underlines the club’s ambition to contend now and build for the future.

The expansion side announced the acquisition of midfielder Kennedy Fuller from Angel City FC, along with an international roster spot for the rest of the 2026 season. The price is steep and unmistakable: $500,000 in intra-league transfer funds and $20,000 in allocation money.

For a teenager, that’s not just investment. It’s a statement.

Big fee, big faith

Fuller, a U.S. U-20 international, will join Bay FC after the June international window, walking into a team that clearly sees her as a centerpiece rather than a prospect.

“Kennedy is an exciting player and a fantastic addition,” said head coach Emma Coates, who did little to hide her enthusiasm. Coates called her “a superb young talent” with “lots of NWSL experience,” praising her creativity and quality on the ball and highlighting the upside still to come.

That last part matters. Bay FC aren’t paying for what Fuller is now as much as what she can become.

A creator already producing

Even at 19, Fuller arrives with a résumé that belongs to a seasoned pro.

In 2026, she has featured in all 11 of Angel City’s matches before the NWSL’s June break, scoring two goals and adding two assists. Her influence, though, goes beyond the box score. In 2025 she emerged as one of the league’s premier playmakers, finishing in the top 10 across the NWSL in chances created with 36 and earning Week 24 Player of the Week honors.

She has been doing this for a while. The Southlake, Texas native turned professional at just 16, debuting in March 2024 after becoming the eighth player signed under the NWSL’s Under-18 Entry Mechanism. From there, she never really looked back.

International pedigree at 19

Fuller’s rise has run parallel to her steady climb through the U.S. youth national team system.

Since 2022, she has been a regular in the youth ranks, most recently lining up for the U-20 National Team in June alongside future Bay FC teammate Onyeka Gamero. Her performances on that stage have not gone unnoticed: she was named one of three finalists for U.S. Soccer’s 2024 Young Player of the Year.

The accolades are backed by trophies and numbers. In 2022, she helped the U.S. U-15s win the Concacaf Women’s U-15 Championship, taking home the Golden Ball as the tournament’s best player. Two years later, she lifted gold at the 2024 Concacaf Women’s U-17 Championship and added bronze at the 2024 U-17 World Cup, scoring 12 goals across those two tournaments.

Those are star-level returns, not just promising flashes.

A fit with Bay FC’s identity

For Bay FC, this move fits a clear pattern: build around young, technically sharp attackers who can grow together.

“I’m incredibly excited to join Bay FC and be part of what the club is building,” Fuller said. She spoke of conversations with Coates and the staff that convinced her this is an environment where players are pushed to grow and reach their potential, and she pointed to learning from new teammates, connecting with fans, and doing everything she can to help the team compete for championships.

The message is direct. She’s not arriving to simply develop. She’s arriving to help Bay FC win.

With an international roster spot also secured in the deal, the club keeps flexibility to add again if the right opportunity appears. But the centerpiece of this move is already clear.

Bay FC have paid top-tier NWSL money for a teenager who has already shown she can dictate games, create chances, and deliver on big stages. Now the question shifts from what Kennedy Fuller might become to how quickly she can bend this new project to her rhythm.
