Camavinga Faces €60m Exit as Mourinho Reshapes Madrid
Real Madrid’s midfield, long the envy of Europe, is bracing for a summer shake-up. Jose Mourinho wants a new face at the heart of his team, and that ambition could push Eduardo Camavinga towards the exit door.
On paper, it sounds harsh. At 23, Camavinga should be entering the phase where promise turns into dominance. Instead, he comes off another underwhelming campaign, one in which he never quite imposed himself and, at one stage, even slipped behind Thiago Pitarch in Mourinho’s pecking order.
The consequence is clear: in the corridors of the Santiago Bernabeu, Camavinga is no longer treated as untouchable.
United join the chase
The rest of Europe has not lost faith. Far from it.
Paris Saint-Germain have been circling, keen to take the French international back home and fold him into their long-term core. Now Manchester United have stepped into the frame as well.
Journalist Miguel Serrano reports that United have formally asked about Camavinga’s situation and the conditions for a transfer. They are not alone. Juventus have made similar enquiries, sensing opportunity in Madrid’s uncertainty.
For United, the timing is deliberate. Their midfield is being ripped up and redrawn. Casemiro has already gone, Manuel Ugarte is expected to follow, and the club’s recruitment team is combing Europe for a new engine room. Interest in Aurelien Tchouameni has been noted, but Camavinga’s availability, price, and age make him an especially intriguing option.
This is not a vague admiration from afar. United want to know the numbers. So do Juventus. The market is moving.
Madrid name their price – but Camavinga digs in
Inside Real Madrid, the stance is pragmatic. Camavinga is not off-limits. He is a saleable asset.
The club have set a price: €60 million. For a 23-year-old with Champions League experience and obvious upside, it is a figure that sits comfortably within the budgets of Europe’s elite. For Manchester United, Juventus, and PSG, it is not a prohibitive fee.
There is, however, one problem for all three suitors.
Camavinga does not want to go.
Despite his struggles for prominence and the frustration of last season, the midfielder has shown no inclination to walk away from the Bernabeu. He remains determined to fight for his place under Mourinho, to claw back importance in a squad where competition is relentless and patience is rarely rewarded.
That resolve is not a minor detail. It is the main obstacle any buyer must overcome.
A fluid situation with one expendable name
For now, everything hangs on Madrid’s next move. Mourinho wants a new midfielder. If Real Madrid manage to bring one in, someone has to make way. The arithmetic is brutal but simple.
In that scenario, Camavinga looks the most expendable of the current group. Not because he lacks talent, but because he sits in that uncomfortable middle ground: valuable enough to command a strong fee, yet not so central that the club refuse to listen.
United, Juventus, and PSG are all watching closely. All three can meet the €60 million asking price without blinking. All three can offer a fresh start and a central role that has so far eluded him in Madrid.
The question now is not whether there is a market for Eduardo Camavinga. That has been answered.
The question is whether a player who still believes he can conquer the Bernabeu is ready to walk away before he does.
