Chris Wood Welcomes £50m Chelsea Signing Liam Delap to Boost Nottingham Forest Attack

Chris Wood has expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming arrival of Liam Delap from Chelsea, a record £50 million signing intended to enhance Nottingham Forest's struggling offense.

Delap Set to Bring Competition and Energy

Nottingham Forest, managed by Oliver Glasner, recently suffered their second consecutive home defeat without scoring, losing 2-0 to Leeds United in the Carabao Cup. This highlighted the pressing need for fresh attacking options.

Forest have agreed on a club-record fee to secure Delap before the transfer window closes. Rumors about the deal grew just before the cup loss to Leeds, as Delap looked to move on from a difficult period at Stamford Bridge. Wood warmly welcomed the news, believing Delap will sharpen Forest's attack significantly.

Wood on Delap's Potential and Squad Ambition

Although Delap scored only three goals in 47 appearances for Chelsea, Wood remains optimistic about his promise. Discussing the club's ambitions and the boost in competition for attacking roles, Wood said:

"We're an ambitious club and that shows with what we're spending on players like him [Delap]. It will be fantastic to get Liam through the door. Hopefully it gets all signed. He will be great for our team, and it is healthy competition, and we will be better players for it."

Wood’s support follows Forest’s exit from the Carabao Cup after the defeat to Leeds, where numerous clear chances were missed. Two home losses in four days against the same opponent without scoring have left manager Glasner in need of attacking reinforcements urgently.
