Diogo Dalot Praises Milan's Gonçalo Ramos and Rafael Leao

Diogo Dalot knows what it means to arrive at San Siro with expectations on your back. He did it himself in 2020, and that experience shapes the way he looks at two of Milan’s current Portuguese stars: Gonçalo Ramos and Rafael Leao.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, as reported by MilanNews.it, the Manchester United full-back could hardly have been more effusive about Ramos’ impact.

“I think Gonçalo is a fantastic player to have in the team. The way he works, the way he trains, the way he behaves, the way he's always ready to help the team. I believe he's been a fantastic signing for the club and I'm really happy he's had this opportunity, because it's a fantastic club. I think he'll really enjoy his time in Milan and I hope he can help the club achieve success and fight for every trophy this season,” Dalot said.

Those words carry weight. Dalot’s own loan spell at Milan left a mark on him, and he knows how demanding the environment can be. Calling Ramos “a fantastic signing” is not casual praise; it’s a statement that the striker’s mentality matches the stage.

If Ramos is the new piece, Leao is the pillar.

Dalot shifted into a more intimate gear when the conversation moved to Rafael Leao, whose future has been under the microscope this summer amid links with Galatasaray.

“I've known Leao since I was 15 and I've talked about him many times. He's a great person, a great human being with a big heart, as well as being a fantastic footballer. That's what makes him special, and I think Milan's fans recognise that too,” Dalot explained.

He underlined the bond between player, club and supporters, stressing how vital that connection has become over the years.

“For all the years he's been there playing for the club, I think it's important for him to also feel that the fans like him and that the whole environment around him cares for him. And I think in recent years it's been a fantastic partnership. So I really hope he can continue to be successful there, win more trophies, and be one of the best players the club has ever had.”

From a former loanee to two current protagonists, the message is clear: in Dalot’s eyes, Milan have not just assembled quality, they’ve assembled character. Now the question is whether Ramos and Leao can turn that into the trophies he believes they should be fighting for.
